Some images from the aft cabin. (Sorry about the horrible quality of the images, mobile phone cameras are really really bad.)

To make access easier we put hinges to get under the aft cabin bunk.

  • The Pump

About the bilge pump I mentioned briefly yesterday, what do you think about this?

Either we will put it under the navigators berth, so it is possible to stand at the steering station and pump from the inside. Or we will put it in a deck box to use when on deck.

It is a big pump, so if we put it in the deck box we might have a spare hose for the intake to run over the side to be able to pump water from the outside to use as a fire pump, to wash deck etc.

But it will take up almost one compartment of the deck boxes. (They have three each side.)

  • Now we are demolishing the boat!

At least a little bit. This weekend we ripped out the settees and the sole in the saloon. We are going to make the sole slightly higher, since we were redoing it anyway. The first one was more of a mock up.

The grand lit in the aft cabin is also almost finished with a tank for the head underneath.

Under the settees in the saloon we will have flexible watertanks about 200 liters each side.

We also planned and cut out for hoses going through the boat. The main pump will have hoses to three different places: the forepeak forward of the watertight bulkhead, the galley/saloon and the engine areea/aft cabin. The reason that we isolate the engine bilge is due to possible oil spills that shouldn’t be pumped out without taking care of the oil.
